Goats in Argan Tree

I was reading a blog post about argan oil for cooking (I've been using it as a moisturizer, love it!), and someone said to Google "argan tree goats."  I found this:

This is REAL, yo!!

They climb the trees in search of food.  Then apparently their poop is used to harvest the oil.  Yes, I smear this stuff on my face.  Good times.

Thunderstruck

Will I go see this?  Probably.

Long Road Ahead

Where on earth did the summer go...I feel that I didn't make the most of it.  Highlights were the beginnings of a front porch makeover (which has now gone by the wayside) and a trip to Brooklyn with the girls.

I realized that I haven't watered the plants in weeks.  Partly due to rain and partly due to my life taking a big change work and schedule wise.  But they seem to be doing ok (the coleuses are actually out of control), minus the awesome impatiens that suddenly stopped flowering.

This morning we sat and ate breakfast on the front porch for the first time in forever.  It was nice.  We watched Emilio unsuccessfully chase a chipmunk.  I hope the fall will bring more relaxation.

Couch to 5K

Yikes, it's been way too long since I've posted something.  I guess the biggest thing that's been going on with us is that we are training for our first 5K via the "Couch to 5K" plan that spans over the course of nine weeks.

I just walked in the door moments ago, just finishing my Week 5 Day 3 run, which is to run TWO MILES STRAIGHT.  Ok, for all you athletic people out there, that might seem like nothing, but mind you I have never run anything more than one mile straight in my ENTIRE life.  This was a daunting task, especially given my previous run was to run for 8 minutes, walk five, then run another 8.

So, I feel pretty darn accomplished for the day.  The first two days of Week 6 are easier intervals, then it bumps up to running 2.25 miles straight.  Then 2.5 for three days.  Then 2.75.  Gulp!!

Matt's on Week 7 - he's a much better runner than I am!

I love that they are a young team for moments like these:
