Blood-y Mar-y!! Blood-y Mar-y!!

I am sitting at my desk salivating over a bloody mary right now.  I'm not really sure why.  Maybe it was when I flew first class and had one on an airplane:

Obviously that was just a mix (Mrs. T's), but usually my main airplane drink (because I never fly first class) is Mott's tomato juice, which could be one of the most delicious beverages I have ever tasted, and would go perfectly in a bloody mary.  The thing is, you cannot buy it ANYWHERE.  Google it, I dare you.  You might find an expired Amazon listing (I missed my chance, evidently), but nothing else.  NOTHING!  What else is the internet for?!

I am going to try to make a bloody caesar with Clamato, which incidentally, is made by Mott's.  Maybe that is my best bet.  Will it be insanely delicious or gross?  Stay tuned!

Sick Day

When I get sick, it lingers.  I've been ill in various forms and levels for the past week, and when I think I am back to 100%, I realized I was tricked.  Today I have finally taken a sick day, mostly not to gross people out at work with my hacking coughs.  On the agenda:

  1. Read The Hunger Games
  2. Maybe watch a movie
  3. Free a paralyzed chipmunk from Earl's paws.
Oh wait, I already did #3 this morning.

Re: the Hunger Games, my pals Julie and Bev got me hooked!  It is good!  And I am finally reading again.

Mad Men

We're blew through seasons 1-3 of Mad Men and are currently midway through the fourth.  So far, the highlight has been this:  http://youtu.be/E7NLF6eNXNc

Sorry, that video won't allow embedding, but here's an awesome .gif!

What We've Been Up To

  1. Watched seasons one, two, and three of Mad Men in the span of a week and a half
  2. Bought Utz potato chips as a result, and ate the whole bag in one sitting (they're better than nutz!)
  3. Matt read all of the Game of Thrones books
  4. Matt grew an Amish beard (no shaving for ~2 months)
  5. Thuy quit ear plugs cold turkey!!
  6. Matt mostly quit snoring
And there you have it.

Phil Seymour

Can't believe I didn't know about this song, love it.

Outdoors

I planned to to get shots of little things outdoors, but I got a little carried away since these just *happened* to have E and E in (most of) them.

Furrrr Chair

Some folks have asked where we got that crazy fur chair you can see in the top right photo in the last post (it's also my phone background).  We got it on Craigslist, but it originally had orange upholstery, which I actually really loved but was in poor condition and was the most insane cat hair magnet imaginable.  The foam was completely shot so we ordered new foam, cut it to size (with an electric knife - do you know how satisfying cutting foam with this thing is?), and upholstered it with 100% genuine faux fur.  And by upholster, I mean hand sew together with fishing line.

I should do a proper before and after post, but this is my "before" picture:

E and E need to stop taking over this blog, but who are we kidding.

Pets

I've been having fun with my Instagram app, as you can see.  Earl is bad at standing still so that's why the shots of him are pretty identical.  Matt's family's pets make an appearance at the end (Ashes and Rufus).  (sorry about my haphazard pasting)

Our House

Well, the outside of it anyway!  We've experienced a lot of beautiful days this summer, so I thought it'd be nice to share what it looks like at La Casa Le-Gooding (haha I know I totally just wrote that, it's so bloggy).

Here's our lovely home.  Sorry about the sun glare, not sure how to adjust it on my camera (still learning).

You can see that the front steps need some work.  Matt wants to replace this whole thing and extend it out farther.  I'm not so sure!

You see these awesome planter boxes?  It's the first thing I ever snagged on Freecycle!  I had been eyeing some at Home Depot, but didn't want to pay the $35 or so for them.  They were on Freecycle for a reason though...they were awfully faded and beat (wish I took a before picture).  But with a good cleaning and a can of cinnamon spray paint, voila!  I love these plants too.  The crazy lady at the plant store helped Matt and me pick them out.  Along with...

I love this planter!  Probably because I'm so much worse at gardening and planting than I thought I'd ever be.  It's just a hosta with some begonias and some other yellow flower things, but we loved it...for the few weeks that it lasted!  Some a-hole deer came and chewed off all of the leaves!  It looks like someone took a machete to it.  I'll have to post a pic later.

Now to the backyard!  I took this after a lot of the cute yellow flowers died for the season; it was very pretty back there!

I know, it would have been awesome to get a picture of a hummingbird there.  Sigh!

Matt looks like he's posing, but he's just dainty that way.

Here's the DIY firepit I made last summer.

That's all for now!  I'll be posting more cat pics, thrift finds, and more later!

Guest Thrift Finds!

Hello, everyone (by everyone, I mean maybe my mom and maybe my sister Khanh)!  This is a very special post, as it contains finds from Lara, my thrifting kindred spirit.  Thank you for sharing these amazing finds, Lara!

I love these tea towel calendars...it seems the only ones I can find have Bible verses
on them.  This one is so charming!

Classy drink tray.  Looks substantial!  Lara, I can see you making Pimm's Cups with this!  Mmm Pimm's...

Gorgeous!!  Though I think these are new (but oh-so vintage-y!)
And last, but certainly not least, this AMAZING vintage seltzer bottle.  I LOVE this.
For those who do not know, Lara got me hooked on seltzer - can you believe
that there is still old-fashioned seltzer delivery??  Best seltzer I've ever had was at her
house, so it is only fitting that she owns this amazing piece of work!
